I launched Twinki-Winki to create a brand of wearable art and feel-good fashion accessories that encourages inspired rebel living. That’s the philosophy behind all Twinki-Winki products. The goal is to bring ease into your day-to-day so you can feel fab whenever you want.
Of course, at the time I could only imagine how wonderful my future customers were going to be. Over the past year, I’ve had the good fortune to see that my Twinki-Winki customers are truly the lovely people I imagined. But not only that, they are an inspiration to me.
With their support and love for their Twinki-Winki products, they confirm my intentions behind launching my brand. And their example fuels my motivation to stay on my chosen rebel path of art-making and fashion.
If I had to describe in just one word how these women inspire me, I’d say FREEDOM. That’s because I know what these lovely women I choose to call “customers” value most.
What she values above all is the freedom to express her creativity.
And what I know to be true after 20 plus years of art-making is that expressing her creativity is an act of self-love.
I don’t know if she’d go as far as calling herself a “fashion misfit.” That’s something I like to say about myself. But she’s definitely quirky. She’s learning to hold on to that feeling of glee of being herself without the need to worry about what anybody else thinks. And it’s not so much about learning a new way of being. Nope, it’s more about remembering who you know you are.
It’s the desire to belong to the world your way. We’ve all got it. But we don’t all have the guts to show it.
Feeling good enough to like yourself requires a whole lot of honesty, compassion, and guts. It takes a warrior-like attitude to protect yourself from your own self-criticizing. That’s why I think of all my Twinki-Winki customers as warriors. Because I see them doing the hard work of being kind to themselves.
And being that way, well, it kinda makes ya quirky. Because you just can’t help but stand out when you’re truly being yourself. Smile.
Twinki-Winki wants you to feel loved, appreciated, inspired, happy, and fabulous.
And the best way I’ve come up with to do that is by being a mirror. When I think of my Twinki-Winki customers and how they inspire me, I immediately want to reflect back to them how beautiful they are.
Truth is, I don’t think we see our own beauty most of the time.
We need others to reflect back to us the qualities we desire to possess. That’s how we realize that those desires are already a part of us. We already are who we want to be. We’re just continually catching up with our expanding selves.
if it’s true
each of us
to see themselves
but we spend
most of our lives
to recognize ourselves
my life’s purpose
has never seemed so clear:
I wish to be
in which you can see
how truly beautiful
She’s in the process of making a beautiful life. And so are you.
You don’t have to be a Twinki-Winki customer to remember life is supposed to be fun. But sometimes we all need a little reminder, don’t ya know. And that’s where Twinki-Winki comes in.
I’ve started a fun series of Twinki-Winki Warrior interviews in the form of 20 questions. You can see the quirky selfies they send me and read their answers:
