Today You Like Being You
Liking ourselves is the first step to giving our lives meaning and creating the life we want for ourselves and others. Repeat after me:
Today I like being me.
So go ahead and repeat that a few times. Today I like being me.
No matter what’s going on. No matter what you’re feeling. No matter what you need to do. Go ahead and repeat after me:
Today I like being me.
Here’s the Twinki-Winki Manifesto. It goes like this:
there is noright or wrong way
for me to be happy
there is no
right or wrong way
for me to be inspired
there is no
right or wrong way
for me to be me
I am what I am
and that’s good enough
thankyouverymuch
every day is a chance to learn
how to keep myself good company
and to forgive myself for messing up
and to move on already
today I like being me
today I twinki-winki
Do ya feel the love? Well, if that wasn’t enough to make it rain chocolate muffins, here’s the Twinki-Winki song for ya:

Be Your Own Bestie
All my life all I’ve ever wanted is to belong my way. What’s taken me a lifetime to figure out is that first I have to belong to myself.
You gotta twinki-winki.
If we can’t like ourselves today, we won’t like ourselves tomorrow either.
Not to worry. The best way to start liking yourself is to be your own best friend. And we all know how we treat our besties, right? I mean, we already know how to be there for them. What we’ve gotta learn is how to be there for ourselves.
Yeah, we’ve gotta do stuff like forgiving ourselves for messing up. Letting go when we feel stuck. Cheering ourselves on when nobody else does. And treating ourselves with kindness.
Keeping ourselves good company might very well be the hardest thing we’ll ever learn to do.
Everything in life is a process. Learning to twinki-winki is no exception. We can make big things happen in small steps. You can start today, wherever and however you are. Even just a little is enough. Every little bit counts.
So that when the inevitable happens and you have one of those my-life-sucks days, well, you can still be happy to be you. As in, alive and kicking, here and now.
• The best way to love life is to love yourself.
• The best way to thank life is to be authentic.
• The best way to experience life is to feel worthy.
So I bet you’re thinking, Okay Alex, this all sounds just ducky, but…
What if I don’t feel that way about myself?
Okay, try this:
Imagine you’re a little caterpillar. A special little caterpillar that is striving to improve and struggling to feel worthy. Who one day gets a letter in the mail. Stay with me.
Dear little caterpillar,
I see you struggling to improve, making plans, working hard at getting better. And I see that you are putting your life on hold. You foolishly think you have all the time in the world to get better so that when you feel you are finally good enough, you will have the life you deserve. But if you can’t believe you are good enough now, then there will never be enough time.
Little caterpillar, you do not and cannot know what your future holds. You are unaware of nature’s marvelous plan for you, of the incredible personal transformation that awaits you. No matter how broken or incomplete your life may feel at times, you are still growing. Your destiny is to grow into something beautiful and you have been ready for this since the day you were born. You don’t know how or why this will happen, but you have to believe it will. It is your destiny. Believe in yourself. You are good enough right now as you are. You are who you were born to be. Live your life.
If a little caterpillar is born with the promise of the butterfly, you too are on an incredible journey of personal transformation.
